Dude, you make me homesick! Sydney is one of the coolest places around, but has definitely gotten expensive one the years. Although not the biggest fan of Zoos, I always recommend a day on the water, with stops at the Zoo, Fort Denison and Manly. The views back over Sydney from the Taronga Park Zoo are pretty amazing.
We went in Sydney 1 year ago. Sydney is the one of the beautiful places in the world. Sydney has a wide variety of museums. The Blue Mountains were absolutely stunning! Our family wants to go to Sydney again. I love your work and been following you for awhile now. This post revitalized me and I am ready to get out and be a tourist in my home town again. Sydney is a lovely, fabulous city. I visited here last year. And am agree with your article. The Bondi to Coogee walk is a must! Sydney is beautiful city. When I remember about Sydney, i will suddenly think about Ian Thorpe and the aquatic center. I agree that Manly is a fantastic beach to explore, next time be sure to follow the path all the way down to Shelly Beach which is stunning and a great snorkelling spot.

Anyway, she knows the point. Petersham for quality affordable Portuguese food. Balmain is just beautiful and as is the usual case plenty of great spots to eat and drink.
Leichhardt is the Italian area so again expect good food at decent prices. None of these are far from the CBD and can all be done together in a day…depending on your appetite! I second the above about Kings X now being rubbish, going to the footy as a must Leichhardt, Kogarah and Brookvale being the most traditional grounds and will add that cricket is the national sport and a top day out if a bit expensive.
I adore the Bondi to Coogee walk but like you said, it can get pretty crowded, especially during the annual Sculpture by the Sea in October. My pick is the Spit to Manly walk.
Get a bus to The Spit to start the walk, and end in Manly, then catch the public ferry across Sydney Harbour back to the city. Wow, the beauty inside the opera house…ah I loved it a lot.
